Lippy turns your voice into clean text in any app on your Mac. Hold a key, talk, let go, and the words land at your cursor. The audio stays on your machine, there is no account, and there is nothing to subscribe to.

How it works
Talking for longer? Add Right Shift and it latches, so you can put the keyboard down and keep going. Press Right Option again to stop. You can also add Shift part way through a sentence, and nothing already recorded is lost.
Choose how much tidying you want
Speech is messy. Lippy can hand back exactly what you said, or clean it up as far as you like. Only the last setting uses a language model, so the first three are close to instant.

Your words
Speech recognition and cleanup both run on your own Mac. Recordings are never written to disk, and finished text is kept in memory only, so a paste that goes astray can be recovered from the menu bar. Lippy opens the microphone when you hold the key and closes it when you let go, which is why the macOS microphone indicator only lights while you are actually talking.
It teaches easily, too. Names and jargon that speech recognition has never met go in a small dictionary, so words you use every day stop coming back wrong.
Getting started
Download the latest release, drag Lippy to your Applications folder, then
open it and choose Run First-Time Setup from its menu bar icon.
That builds what it needs and downloads the speech model once. macOS will
ask for the microphone, and for accessibility so that the hotkey works and
text can be pasted.
